Off-road (hard floor) slide-on tray back camper

The Evron SC2 has recently won the 2009 Off-Road Tray-Back Camper of the Year Awards. It has everything you need to set off on an outback adventure. Not only do we supply you with an award winning (fully optioned) tray back camper; but we have also released a standard model which is considerably less than the fully optioned camper.

SC2-1bBuilt for off-road travel, it will fit on the back of all single cab Ute trays. If you don't own a single cab 4WD vehicle and only have a dual cab vehicle, then why not lengthen the chassis by 600mm, and fit a single cab tray to your dual cab. This kind of chassis extension has been performed on dual cab vehicles, over and over again and is quite a common ideal.

What we found was that families preparing for a holiday on the road, required the use of a dual cab Ute and not a single cab Ute. They also needed a large camper to sleep the whole family comfortably. So this is why most people with dual cabs decided that it was a great alternative than buying an off-road camper trailer.

Designed as a hard floor, (left hand) side folding camper, you can pull off on the side of the road and prepare your lunch without having to un-hook your boat. You can also open the hard floor sleeping quarters of the camper, anywhere and have a rest, whilst your boat is still attached.

This particular tray back camper, has been designed so that you can pack up and go anywhere for a weekend getaway or a long awaited travel holiday. The only thing that hasn't been incorporated into this premier tray back camper is a porta potti for the ladies. The portable toilet can be placed in the shower cubical for privacy and use.

Whilst travelling you can store a portable toilet in one of the exterior storage compartments of the camper, or have a special box made up which can be fixed to the underbelly of the tray if you own a tray back Ute. The box can be used as a tool box as well on other occasions. The best position for the tool / toilet box would be on the drivers' side of your vehicle, which would sit directly below the shower cubical on the camper.

The tray back camper also has a 12 volt electrical system that runs throughout the main structure, with the allocation of two x 240 volt power plug outlets for your convenience; if running off the 240 volt power inlet. These are very handy if you need to use an electrical appliance, such as a toaster, hairdryer or laptop. If you are not set-up at a powered caravan site, then you can use the generator to power this up instead.

Solar panels can be fitted by a solar panel supplier, to the top of the tray back camper to back up the mains supply if you are planning a long trip. However this camper is fitted with a batter charger and inverter which are located inside the camper, along with two 120 amp hour batteries. These are charged as you are driving along by the aid of an Anderson plug which you will need to fit to your vehicle. If you are standing still the batteries will generally last for up to 4 days, without the aid of a generator or solar panel. So if you are planning a long stay in one area, I would recommend purchasing a generator and / or solar panels as back-up, as they compliment the power set-up from camps away from mains power.

Entry to the Travelander slide-on tray back camper is from the left hand rear, via the canvas door. The kitchen is located at the rear of the camper, which when open is sheltered from the sun, as the kitchen door when opened sits hinged on gas struts above your head.

Designed as a hard floor, (left hand) side folding tray back camper, you can pull off on the side of the road and prepare your lunch without having to open up your camper to access an inside kitchen.

SC2-2The canvas provided for the tent, annex roof and walls is made from a premier outdoor fabric which has been dyna proofed to prevent sun penetration. The area that the canvas covers is to the sleeping quarters, which includes the elevated area incorporating a queen bed with bed head storage and the hard floor area which also allows for further bedding, or internal table and chairs. This particular area includes a tropical roof cover, which prevents dew from building up and dripping on you from inside the camper and most important, it reduces the amount of heat from the sun.

You are also supplied with a kitchen sun shade which protects you from the sun if you are stopping off in the middle of the day for a lunch break and want to sit under the kitchen area whilst eating and resting. Along with the rear sun shade the camper is also fitted with the main annexe roof which is 8 foot wide and runs the length of the tray back camper when folded out.

There is also another roof shade which is stitched into the main roof on the drivers' side of the camper, which protects you from the harsh elements of the sun and rain. The roof shade sits over the top of the shower cubical, external storage and 2nd fridge compartment, which allows you access without the taunting elements of the ever changing weather.

Both tray back models are very roomy inside but quite cute and compact when closed. They both feature an exclusive automatic set-up aided by a remote control key ring; which is a real treat for ease of setting up camp.

Overall the slide-on camper was designed for those who are trying to be careful with fuel consumption over the duration of your road trip. Our compact campers sit only 2cm above the head of your vehicle, unlike others on the market. Not only is your fuel consumption in your vehicle reduced but you are not affected by strong winds. Most of the time when you are travelling you will cruise along without ever noticing that the slide-on tray back camper is sitting on the back of your 4WD Ute tray.

To sum it all up, the tray back campers are perfect for those who want something modern, compact, lightweight and cheaper on fuel (no towing). It's so easy to set-up, as there is no back breaking exercise of opening and closing the camper.
