Many a time, before we designed the Travelander campers, we had battled with the question: "Is it really worthwhile packing up all the gear just to go camping for one night or the weekend?" I think it mainly depends on what kind of week or month you have had, but it is always important to take a break, so that you can clear your mind in the peace and serenity of nature.

If you have the right off-road camper trailer or slide-on ute back camper you shouldn't really have to consider packing "all" the gear each time, as there would be no more need for a comprehensive set-up on a quick stop over. It would already be packed in its place and ready for you to go on a spontaneous weekend escape.

For short trips, having a Travelander camper creates simplicity and ease. You can store all your general camping gear in the camper and cooking ingredients like – salt, pepper, and small amounts of oil, sugar, herbs and spice in the kitchen. Of course all other general cooking items are kept and stored as well, including your washing up stuff, all ready to go.

We always like to cover the basics such as sleeping gear, cooking ingredients, general tinned and dry food, water and some clothes. The rest of the gear is additional, but overall it makes for a quick getaway. Because the camper has storage areas for your annexe roof, walls, ropes, pegs, poles and hammer, the only thing you should need to think about is a few tools that you could have pre-packed. Of course, there may be something that you will forget, but most often you can do without it.

Simplicity can certainly take the hassle out of a weekend escape, so the exercise becomes more about enjoying the destination, rather than sweating over the production.
